As an integral part of its business practices, Sundyne Corporation deploys a quality assurance process from its parent company United Technologies Corporation, that is second to none. Called Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE), one critical component of this process is Market Feedback. Comprehensive analysis enables active Sundyne customers and business partner dialog regarding products, performance, and service support. This interactive service communication, direct to our engineering team and service support experts has lead to the development of the new Sundyne Sunflo P-2500 gear driven centrifugal pump.

The Product The Sunflo P-2500 pump incorporates many new features that greatly enhance the reliability of the rugged Sunflo P-2000 product line while preserving the simple “one person, one wrench, one hour” maintenance philosophy that has been a cornerstone of the product line for years. At the heart of this product enhancement is a new two-piece seal housing that allows for larger, more durable seals. Also key to the design is a new seal porting configuration that greatly improves flush flow while protecting the gearbox from process fluid leakage into the lubrication system. Five different seal plans are available to maximize reliability in virtually every application service.
New bearing designs greatly improve overall bearing dynamic stability to a standard 25,000 hour L10 life. Coupled with our field proven splined shaft assembly that prevents mating ring distortion outside of design parameters, dynamic loads are further reduced on all pump rotating components. This feature alone significantly extends MTBR (Mean Time Between Repair.)
The Proof is Already in the Field Several field trials were conducted to test the P-2500 in real world conditions and prove the new design concepts. At Grand Atlantic Seafood in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland, two frame-mounted Sunflo P-2500 pumps are being used in tough crab wash down and general production wash down service. According to Ray Beck, Maintenance Supervisor, their P-2500 pumps are running flawlessly. “They’re running perfectly…no kidding. We’ve not had one problem with them since installation.” Grand Atlantic Seafood uses the general wash down service pump about 18 hours a day and the other on demand for crab wash down service. “Reliability is critical for us.” states Beck. “We have a lot of equipment in our processing facility and if anything breaks down, we have to send the fishing boats away and that makes everyone very unhappy. Our P-2500’s are very quiet and reliable. I highly recommend these pumps.”
